Whisky Stuff

Merry Christmas! Today we celebrate with the envy of the Angel’s:

From Angel’s Envy,

During the aging process, the 5% of spirit lost each year is known as the “Angel’s Share.” After tasting our finished whiskey, Lincoln joked that we had finally struck a better deal than the angels. And so, Angel’s Envy was born.

The distillery is a relative newcomer to the scene, having opened in 2010, but they’re making a name for themselves on their excellent cask-finished bourbons. Taking their core bourbon recipe and finishing it for a few months in port barrels adds a “subtle sweetness” and “richness” to the bourbon. They also experiment with rum, sherry, and/or mizunara barrels.

Advent Reflection

The Unwrapped and the Undone

by Kate Bowler

Blessed are we who didn’t get it all done,
who release the lists and drop the expectations.
Blessed are we who remember that love comes
not to the perfect, but to us.

Blessed are we, standing on tiptoe at the manger,
awed that God would stoop so low.
Blessed are we who dare to believe
that Love Himself has come down,
not just for the world,
but for us.
